Inflatable Catamaran vs. Single-Hull: How the Battle Cat Improves Stability
Santa Ana, United States – July 13, 2026 / Rover Marine /
Rover Marine, the family-founded inflatable boat brand behind the Battle Series, is showing boaters why hull design is one of the most important considerations when choosing a stable portable boat.
The company’s signature Battle Cat uses two parallel inflatable pontoons to create a wide catamaran-style platform. By separating the boat’s primary points of buoyancy, the design provides a broad stance that helps reduce side-to-side movement and gives passengers greater confidence when standing, casting, boarding, or shifting gear.
This makes the Battle Cat noticeably different from a conventional inflatable dinghy, which typically uses a more traditional central hull form.
“Most people’s experience with inflatable boats comes from older dinghies that feel soft or unsettled underfoot,” said Nick Lanfranco, co-founder of Rover Marine. “The Battle Cat was designed to feel wider, firmer, and more planted, so people can fish, dive, move around, and enjoy the boat without constantly thinking about their balance.”
Built for Real Days on the Water
The Battle Cat combines its dual-pontoon configuration with a high-pressure drop-stitch floor that inflates to 10 PSI. Once inflated, the floor creates a firm deck that feels substantially more rigid than the low-pressure floors found in many entry-level inflatable boats.
Its tubes inflate to 3.5 PSI and use triple-layer reinforced 1100D PVC with heat-welded seams. The boat also uses a four-plus-one air-chamber configuration, providing separate chambers that add redundancy to the inflatable structure.
The wide stance and rigid floor work together to support fishing, diving, family cruising, yacht tender use, and days when passengers are regularly moving around the deck.
The catamaran-style hull is also designed to reduce drag and improve efficiency as the boat moves through the water. That can help the Battle Cat accelerate efficiently and make productive use of either gas or electric power.
Three Sizes for Different Crews
The Battle Cat is available in three sizes.
8-Foot Battle Cat
The 8-foot model weighs 84 pounds and is rated for two people or 600 pounds. It supports motors up to 6 horsepower and is well suited to solo outings, couples, compact storage areas, and tight launch locations.
10-Foot Battle Cat
The 10-foot model weighs 98 pounds and is rated for four people or 1,000 pounds. It supports motors up to 10 horsepower and offers a practical balance of passenger capacity, deck room, portability, and maneuverability.
12-Foot Battle Cat
The 12-foot model weighs 130 pounds and is rated for four people or 1,200 pounds. It supports motors up to 20 horsepower and provides additional capacity for family use, longer outings, dive equipment, fishing gear, and tender service.
All three models deflate for transportation and storage. Setup time varies by boat size, pump type, operator experience, and accessories, but the boats are designed to move from storage to launch without requiring a permanent trailer or conventional marina slip.
Registration and Identification
Rover Marine has been assigned a Manufacturer Identification Code through the U.S. Coast Guard system. Each boat is supplied with its own Hull Identification Number, which incorporates the manufacturer’s code and identifies the individual vessel.
Registration and titling requirements differ by state, particularly when an outboard motor is installed. Rover Marine provides the applicable boat documentation separately so owners can complete their state’s registration process.
Designed for Fishing, Diving, Families, and Tender Use
The Battle Cat is intended for anglers who want a stable casting platform, divers who need room to organize and move equipment, and families who prefer a wide deck for cruising and relaxing.
It can also serve as a yacht tender for boat owners who want an inflatable that combines portability with a more distinctive design. The Battle Cat can be paired with properly sized gas outboards or compatible electric motors, including options from ePropulsion and Torqeedo.
Boaters can compare the three sizes and review the complete specifications on the Battle Cat inflatable catamaran page. The Battle Cat is available in 8, 10, and 12-foot configurations, with pricing starting at $2,299.
